LEG PAINS AFTER C-SECTION?
MY BEST FRIEND HAD A C-SECTION LAST WEEK ON TUESDAY. SHE WAS RELEASED FROM THE HOSPITAL ON FRIDAY. EVERYTHING WAS NORMAL RIGHT FROM THE GET-GO. SHE WAS ABLE TO WALK AROUND AND DO THINGS NORMALLY, SLOW BUT LIKE NORMAL. TWO DAYS AGO SHE STARTED GETTING THIS REALLY BAD PAIN IN HER HIGH THIGHS. SHE CANT WALK AND IT'S HARD FOR HER TO STAND UP. WHEN SHE'S SITTING OR LAYING DOWN SHE'S FINE. BUT AS SOON AS WE TRY TO GET HER TO STAND UP SHE CRYS CAUSE SHE'S IN SO MUCH PAIN. IT TAKES THREE OF US TO PICK HER UP AND GET HER TO THE RESTROOM. YESTERDAY WE HAD THE AMBULANCE COME GET HER AND TAKE HER TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM AROUND 9:30 PM. THEY TOOK BLOOD TESTS, URINE TESTS, A CAT SCAN AND AN ULTRA SOUND AND FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH HER SO THEY SENT HER HOME ABOUT 5 THIS MORNING. TODAY SHE'S STILL THE SAME WAY IF NOT WORST. CRYING WHEN SHE TRIES TO STAND OR WALK AND WE GOTTA DRAG OR CARRY HER TO THE BATHROOM.
HAS ANYONE EXPERIENCED THIS OR KNOW ANYONE WHO HAS. PLEASE ANY ADVISE WILL HELP.
Gosh. My first thought was clotting. Did they do any dopplers of her legs to check her circulation??? Its a dangerous complication of any surgery to develop clots in the legs that can cause pain like this.
Also, this may be a side effect of the epidural anesthesia. Those are placed in the spine and, sometimes, can impact some nerves. The sciatic nerve runs through the thighs. Damage to it or swelling around it can cause pain in the thighs (particularly the backs of the thighs and buttocks) that is excruciating.
The pain is not normal, that I know of. I would definitely seek a second opinion. My guess would be that it is related to the epidural.
