Picking the proper Golf Ball, Which one is best for me?
I have been playing golf for about 6 years now, and I've really been working on my game the last 2 years. I'm on the cusp of breaking into the 70's and trying to search for every little detail to help get me over the hump.
I've been told in the past that a softer ball would work better for me do to my swing speed (I'm usually between 95 & 100mph). I've heard that balls like the PRO V1 won't help my game, because I don't swing hard enough to compress them. Right now I'm hitting Precept Laddies. I have hit Callaway War Birds, Nike Juice, and Top Flight D2's. Hard to tell which went further because I've hit them at different times and my swing is better now and I have a new driver.
Is there any truth to this?
Most importantly, what ball/balls would work best for my swing speed (for maximum distance)?
Maybe I will get some in my stocking from Santa this year
Thanks,
JC
There are that many golf balls on the market that do so many different things, balls that suit different courses, balls that react differently off the club head, balls that fly higher, balls that spin further etc etc...
If you feel you have a decent short game but you could shave some strokes of it then change to ball like the Callaway HX, Titleist PRO V1, even the Bridgestones, these balls dont sacrifice distance but they will give you control on the greens. You dont want a balll that will give you max distance, you would be flat stopping that ball on a lake let alone a putting surface.
Grab a sleeve of soft compression balls and head to to the practise green, get the feel for the ball then try the course.
