....why are the blacks celebrating?......Obama is as white as he is black......how is this a victory for black?

Blacks are celebrating because most Americans would see Obama as a black man, even if he is biracial, because the one drop rule. So the fact that a person who would be considered to be a black man by the majority of Americans was elected to be President shows them that times are changing where a black person can achieve that position in politics - or any other area. Racism was almost always (and still is at times) a factor in a black person eligibility for a job but blacks feel that since a black overcame these obstacles, he achieved his ambitious goal of becoming President of the United States. This is certainly something that many blacks feel is something to be celebrated.
